What is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?
Common is not normal.
Pelvic floor physical therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy that focuses on the muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues of the area surrounding the pelvis. It aims to assess, diagnose, and treat various conditions related to the pelvis, low back and sacro-iliac joint. This can include pelvic pain, abdominal pain, low back or hip pain, incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, sexual dysfunction, and more!
Our approach to pelvic floor physical therapy includes a holistic treatment model including both physical and emotional aspects of pelvic floor dysfunction. We aim to look at the entire body as a cohesive entity and focus on functional movement so that you can return to all activities pain free and symptom free.

Dr. Alina Wright, PT, DPT, CAFS
Dr. Alina Wright is a passionate advocate for women's health, driven by her personal journey through infertility. As Dr. Wright navigated through the overwhelming world of hormones, fertility diets, pelvic floor therapy, acupuncture and other alternative medicine, she became increasingly aware of the shortage of accessible information, resources, and support for women. She has met countless women with similar frustrations. Whether it be incontinence, pelvic pain, or pre and postpartum support, there is a lack of understanding in the standard medical practice. Dr. Wright has been in the physical therapy field over 7 years and has further education beyond her degree focusing on pediatric care, pelvic health, vestibular therapy and orthopedic functional movement.

FAQ
do i need a doctor’s referral?
You do not need a physician referral in Idaho! Simply call us to book an initial evaluation. No other steps are necessary.
What does a pelvic exam by a physical therapist look like?
A pelvic exam by a physical therapist is entirely different than a pelvic exam by a gynecologist. As physical therapists, we evaluation strength, coordination, and tissue restriction of your pelvic floor. This involves one gloved finger into the vaginal canal; no speculums are utilized.
I had a c-section, should i still come in?
Yes! Your pelvic floor can still be affected from carrying a baby for 9 months and having MAJOR abdominal surgery.
do you take insurance?
BlumeHaus Physical Therapy is out of network with all insurance companies. This allows us to provide one-on-one personalized care without constraints of an insurance company.
I am pregnant, when should i start PT?
If you are pregnant and currently experiencing pain in your pelvis, back, or hips, it is best to start treatment now. If you don't have any pain, we recommend starting physical therapy in your third trimester to help prepare for birth, review birthing positions, teach you how to "push" and prepare for post partum recovery.
Is it cheaper to go to a clinic that Accepts my insurance?
Not necessarily! When a clinic bills insurance, there is typically a deductible and even a surprise bill that may pop up after your appointments that insurance won't cover. Deductibles can be more expensive than paying out of pocket! We are able to tell you the full rate prior to your appointment without surprise charges.

blog
As a physical therapist specializing in women’s health and someone currently pregnant, I’ve been reflecting a lot on my upcoming labor and delivery. One question I find myself considering, both personally and professionally, is whether hiring a doula is worth it.
There’s no shortage of opinions on the topic, but I want to provide insight from my clinical experience, published research, and my own pregnancy journey.
